Every dog owner should read this, June 7, 2012 |
Reviewer: Jodie |
Initially I noticed many fellow dog folk picking this book up at a conference. Deciding it must be something special I joined in and it was the best purchase I made!
This book is one that I recommend to all my dog friends. There is humor, inspiration, motivation, and learning all enclosed under the cover. In the process of training a large breed dog, I found myself getting a bit flustered with a few behaviors/responses my dog was displaying, at just the right time a few pages in this book got me back on track and boosted my mental outlook on what I was doing and to keep on the positive track and not fall into cultivating a one way controlling relationship but to keep open communication and let my dog learn how to be a part of the world around her and still be connected to me. This book also has some good points for becoming a better communicator/listener with people too.
Invaluable read! Thank you Suzanne. My dogs love you for writing this book. |

Not a Training Manual, But Great Food for Thought, March 11, 2012 |
Reviewer: Amelia Looper |
This book is a series of mid-length essays on just about every doggy topic, from resource guarding and leash behavior to play and aging. There are few specific protocols, but thoughtful examinations of things we take for granted. For example, the chapter on leash walking points out that we want our dogs to be attentive to us, but are masters at ignoring them over the course of our walks. You can't help but more greatly empathize with your dog after reading this! |

Aah! When it comes to this book, I'm speechless. It's so beautifully written, so sensitive and understanding.. Suzanne is an amazing author. This book is kind of different from any other training book. I know,I'm going to read this book soon again. It makes you think about your relationship w/ your dog. |
