This book is terrific. I have a 90 lbs. dog with severe separation anxiety. He was given up by his prior owners when he was 7 months old because he ate their entire house while they were were at work. I got him home and he ate a door in my house in the 1/2 hour that I left him alone. When crated, he broke his teeth on the steel bars, and would salivate profusely. This book was a tremendous resource. It gave us insight as to the dog's problem and helped my husband and I, step by step, with behavior modification training. After a lot of hard work, our dog is able to handle being home alone and is a truly rewarding pet. |

Great for mild cases!, May 15, 2007 |
Reviewer: Jacquelyn England |
I liked this book a lot, but I did feel it concentrates quite a bit on milder cases of separation anxiety. The detailed explanations of how to tell your dog suffers from separation anxiety are great, as is the information on helping fix milder cases. The section referring to fixing extreme separation anxiety using gradual desensitization is slightly lacking, but other than that - great book. |

Excellent book. The desensitization exercises are very effective and well worth the time it takes to ensure your dog is calm when you leave the house. |
