The book you've been waiting for, from well-known trainer and international workshop-presenter Terry Ryan! We are pleased to announce that Terry Ryan's classic Coaching People to Train Their Dogs is available again. Terry Ryan has been a mentor - maybe guru is a better word - for a whole generation of modern dog trainers who have benefited from her books, lectures, and seminars on dog training and class instruction. This 400 page trainer's manual includes just about anything today's modern professional dog trainer needs to know - training methods, learning theory, running a training business, and class organization. Of particular note is Chapter 6, "People Skills," where Terry focuses on how to interact with human students, the one part of the training equation that is sometimes overlooked. This edition has a new chapter on Animal Husbandry and some revised lessons plans.

Great book, July 19, 2010 |
Reviewer: Nick Hof |
I just finshed this book a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. It covers so much information that is pertinent for you to be able to help your clients.
I really liked all of the handouts that she included with varying subjects.
If you are a seasoned trainer or just starting out, this is an investment worth considering. |

Wealth of Information, January 13, 2007 |
Reviewer: Vivien Clarke |
This book is invaluable to a new dog trainer (which I am). I am often going to my bookshelf to grab this book over other ones when I have a question about working with a difficult client (human or otherwise). The tips on class management are great, as well as all of the fun games to use during class. The table of contents is a little overwhelming, but once you get started reading, time flies. Coaching People to Train Their Dogs is an amazing book, written by an amazing trainer. |

very good but ..., September 14, 2006 |
Reviewer: ZKV |
The book is very good, interesting and helps plan classes. I took one paw off only because I found it was too childish, too easy as exercices and approches (perhaps because as I later learned Terry teaches often eldery owners!). Since I do not teach in the US it did not fit my classes mood, where there is less time, less playing and more serious work (that I still try to be as fun as possible with games)because I teach hurried people with no much time or money. |
