| I received Pup-Essentials as a gift after I adopted my 4-month-old rescued Golden Retriever. We had to wait for our puppy class to start but Pup-Essentials gave me the foundation for getting puppy training started. The videos are full of ideas on how to socialize a puppy, help the puppy learn to be handled (by a vet, a groomer, children, etc.), house-train the puppy, select and use chew toys, teach a soft mouth, and prevent resource guarding. The clips are 'worth a thousand words' as puppy learning unfolds in real time--and in very short time! The handouts summarize key information for me as a pet owner and the detailed lesson plan provides a script to refer to for practicing with my puppy. Dr. Messer is an engaging teacher, who is clearly an expert on training puppies, and who is passionate about helping pet owners raise healthy, well-adjusted dogs. Plus she is entertaining to boot! Pup-Essentials packs a lot into 90-minutes, and it's worth every one of them. |
