A gem for all who love dogs, June 10, 2015
Reviewer: Kathryn Horn
I am so pleased to see this gem of a book available at Dogwise. Suzanne Clothier has taken a number of her most-read articles, blending them with original work to give a total picture of Relationship Centered Training. Chapters can be enjoyed separately and even out of order. But when the book is read as a whole, a full picture of what it means to live with dogs, train dogs, and love dogs while living with them in a relationship of caring and understanding is shown in great clarity. This is a must-read for anyone who loves and lives with dogs!

Ms. Clothier offers a completely refreshing and unique perspective in regards to the human/canine relationship. At the core of this collection of articles, is a deep, unwavering respect for all dogs. I have had some unpleasant experiences in a few training classes because I was asked to treat my dog in a harsh and disrespectful way. At times, in the name of 'competition', I was asked to run my dog in conditions that were not safe for me or my dog. After reading this collection, I understood why these harsh methods are not only completely unnecessary - they undermine and erode the relationship I have with my dog. Armed with the wisdom and information in this book, I now only train with instructors whose perspective is in line with my own. All the choices I make in regards to what I do, or do not do with my dog, are based on whether or not both my dog and I will feel safe and comfortable. Ms. Clothier is an incredible writer - she can be very very funny; she will also make you cry. Get this book!

Your dog will thank you!, June 12, 2015
Reviewer: Melissa Knox
This book is a must-read for anyone wanting to learn more about their dog, his world, and the invaluable importance of the relationship you develop along the way. Written with a compassionate yet common-sense approach, each chapter provides insight into dog behavior and guides you through the process of understanding what effects your dog’s world and why. Through this understanding you learn to ask, “How is this for you?” as you and your dog explore and experience the world around you, cultivating a deeper and richer relationship along the way. Suzanne Clothier’s gift as a writer and the experience a lifetime spent with dogs come together beautifully in this collection of stories and articles. If you love dogs, this book is for you.

Brilliant!, June 12, 2015
Reviewer: Glenn Massie
Suzanne Clothier has a true gift for communicating clear and insightful information regarding dog behavior. Sadly, most of what Suzanne covers in this book is not common knowledge.

If you ever thought a dog was hard to train, would not cooperate, lacked self-control, or thought someone else's dog overreacted or was aggressive, this book is for you.

This is a must read for anyone who owns, interacts, or works with dogs. Everyone from the new dog owner, to the person who has been training dogs for years will benefit from reading this book.

I really like this book. It has a lot of common sense about behaviour and Suzanne's writing puts her points across in a way anyone from trainer to new dog owner can understand.
