Considering Raw? This is an ideal starting point, February 19, 2007 |
Reviewer: Diane Schuller |
Someone else said they feel this is a good starter book. That person is correct but let me add some information to that.
I have purchased every book on feeding a raw species-appropriate diet to dogs. For those just getting started, I consider this one ideal for getting started. Use it as the basis for your understanding of feeding a dog this way but don't limit yourself.
It sets out why it's ideal to feed this way and does it in a simple, easy to understand method. She also provides a sample meal plan. Again, this is strictly a 'guideline' to get a person started and is not meant as being taken as 'the only way'.
Also included in her book are brief sections on making the switch to raw foods, traveling considerations, foods to avoid, and feeding the breeding dog and senior dogs. The only thing I disliked in this book was a chapter that provided testimonials from those who made the switch.
Overall, it's a simple to follow how-to book for those wanting to learn about feeding raw foods to their dog and those who would like a starting point or guideline to get started. |

Great first book on raw feeding!, April 26, 2007 |
Reviewer: S Anne Humphreys, CPDT, Dharian Basenjis, Texas |
This is the one I give to all my puppy buyers. It gives a basic understanding of raw feeding along with providing sample meals and menus to get started. I would like to see the author update it to include a discussion of comercial raw foods and food componenets. |

this little book, about the size of a tablet is a must take everywhere. Great for the curious but watch out! you will be hooked and wanting more. They say curiosity killed the cat, I say curiosity saved the cat and the dog. Read and enjoy. Great for pet lovers of all levels. |
