Enlightening, August 19, 2011 |
Reviewer: Christine Beavers |
This book touched on the relationship and bond of training a dog to assist, but doesn't quit give all that was needed to precisely train your dog for service, but since this book is not designed for training a dog for service, it hit right on the mark for what they were striving for and that is taking the training of the normal household pet and turning your pet into a well behaved and socially accepted member of your family. This book was a great read and only encouraged me more to seek even more knowledge and achieving the type of relationship I am looking for with my dog which is way beyond the normal sits and downs. Fantastic! |

Everything I'm glad I learned, April 13, 2011 |
Reviewer: Kathy Medel |
What an awesome book. I am a trainer and also employ positive techniques. I have recently begun therapy dog work and this book is my new bible. What a great resource for socialization and training. I have tabbed and highlighted throughout the book and have given copies to my dog lover friends and recommended it to my therapy dog colleagues. |

A delicious first course!, February 25, 2011 |
Reviewer: Paula Lancaster |
In about 1974 I quit training and showing dogs. I felt bad about the yank and jerk methods that were the norm back then. When I began to do rescue work and came back to the world of dogs I came across this book and bought it. I was delighted with it and read it straight through. Because of this book I dove into learning positive training and use that knowledge to help the dogs who come through our rescue. It is not a how-to, but more a testament to the value of positive training methods and a very good read. |
