Paws up for Teamwork, December 31, 2008 |
Reviewer: Amanda |
Teamwork is an excellent beginning training manual for owner trainers of assistance dogs. It is well written and easy to read. I like that various training techniques are discussed, as people with different disabilities may need different ways to work with their dog. While this first book doesn't go into task training for assistance dogs, is does cover the important foundation behaviors that assistance dog tasks will be built upon. |

I am very excited about this book. My dog Sampson has taken classes at a local Petstore, but are not a team. He can be hard headed. After getting Teamwork and reading the first few chapters I saw what we had been doing wrong and began to use the methods in this book. The change in how Sampson reacts is amazing. I can not wait to finish this book and order book 2.
Teamwork is easy to read and has training tips for people with many disabilies. I love the pictures of people with their dogs and the listing of their disabilites. I know if they can train their dogs so can I. Teamwork is a step by step manual and you must master one chapter before going to the next so you do not overwhelm your dog. Also this book can be worked at your own pace. |
