Expanded Description:
First published back in 1995, Following Ghosts has a dedicated following. This revised edition contains new material, including John’s simple two-step approach to starting a tracking dog.
Based on John Rice’s extensive experiences with his all Golden Retriever Police K-9 unit. Not a how-to recipe book, Following Ghosts offers a revolutionary and challenging look at tracking & canine abilities. For the novice or experienced tracker, this book will change your thinking.
Find out why VST is not the ultimate goal but the very best starting point! Learn why food on the track confuses dogs. Discover how to track anytime, almost anywhere.
We have been pleased that for more than 2 decades, this little gem has been considered “required reading” for many tracking enthusiasts, judges, Search & Rescue Units, police departments & others.

Excellent!, September 13, 2006 |
Reviewer: Tammy Kinkade |
Great insight into the relationship between a dog and his nose - and the differences in the way we humans perceive tracking vs. how a dog does. If you are at all interested in learning this activity, whether for sport, S&R or just for fun, this book is a great guide that not only gives hints and tips on how to, but also gives plenty of perspective on why a dog scents the way he does. Excellent! |

A must have!, March 20, 2006 |
Reviewer: Claudia Clifton |
This booklet is a must have for everyone, beginner to advanced tracker, for sport or practical tracking like SAR or trailing.
Not a how-to-book, but a book that will give one fresh ideas on how things work and how the dog tracks.... Takes the complicated thinking of humans out of the tracking equation!!!!
I need more of those books for everybody I am training with! |
