Another awesome book by Paul Owens, February 24, 2010 |
Reviewer: Nicole Walder |
I'm a fan of his first two books so of course, this was a natural option to follow. Once again, I find his book insightful into not only dogs, but the people too. It makes sense that if anyone wants to change their dog's already established bad habits, they might have to change their contribution to that as well. I can say that from my own experience with two dogs at home, most of the bad habits they had (ie, jumping on people at the door) took a change in me to change them. It's always great to know that with consistency, no harm or force was needed, just new habits to replace the old. It was also a fun challenge to try the 7 day vacation... I recommend it for building a better relationship with your dog. Thanks Paul for a different look at positive dog training. |

Learn Some Good Habits!, December 8, 2009 |
Reviewer: Barbara Holliday |
This book is truly a miracle. I learned some practical methods to actually communicate and teach my dog postive behaviors and habits in a 'non-violent' way. Thanks to Paul, my dog Bozley and I have BOTH learned a few new 'Good' Habits. This BOOK SHOULD be required reading for every dog owner! |

Good Habits for Great People, December 6, 2009 |
Reviewer: Bill |
To me the great thing about this book is that it teaches people how to train their dog. Mr. Owens has other very good books on how to teach specific behaviors to your dog but this book goes beyond that and teaches the owner how to be successful in teaching those behaviors. I belong to an obedience club and assist in the training classes. One of the biggest issues that I see is helping the people to understand their dog and how to train their dog. Most everyone focuses on teaching your dog to understand you and do what you want them to do. To be really successful at training your dog, you have to understand what your dog is saying to you; is he stressed, is he feeling bad, does he just not understand what you want. The really good trainers understand the dogs that they are training. This book helps the average person understand their dog so that you and your dog learn to work together. In his past books Mr. Owens has shown people how to set their dog up for success rather than failure. This book shows you how to set yourself up for success. The more successful you are, the more successful your dog will be. Great book! |
